Background: In 1980, Sam Gerard was listening to the 'Animals' album by Pink Floyd. After reading the lyrics of the song 'Sheep', he became an ethical (though junk-eating) vegetarian THAT NIGHT. Nine months later, he became a health fanatic Vegan. Soon after (being a perfectionist), he started making his OWN superfood concoction. Within a year, his serious hobby forced him into treating it as a bonafide business. Background: Kirk Hamilton has been a practicing physicians assistant in integrative medicine for more than 20 years. Kirk started the company to make products to be sold in health clubs, but would only make animal-free products since he had a hard time finding high potency animal-free dietary supplements. The main reason he became a vegan was to reduce the suffering of animals, especially with modern factory animal farming. Kirk formerly owned Clinical Pearls Publications, Inc., a company which produced newsletters, CDs and books on peer review nutrition research for health professionals.
